Gender Gap in Financial Security and Insurance Sector at Govt. College for Women

The seminar commenced at 10:00 AM with the III Anthem. Smt. Sarita G., Faculty and Professor in the Department of English, welcomed the speakers and participants. Smt. Parvathi Devi, a prominent writer, journalist, women’s rights activist, and former member of the Kerala Public Service Commission, delivered the inaugural and keynote address.

In her speech, she encouraged women students to achieve financial independence at an early age, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives aligned with their ambitions and aspirations. The main speaker, Smt. Aishwarya R.S., Development Officer, LIC Branch III, Thiruvananthapuram, emphasized the importance of starting financial planning during undergraduate studies and maintaining a long-term financial plan to achieve personal goals and financial security. She also shared valuable information about internship opportunities and professional courses that can enhance students’ career prospects.

Kum. I. Latha, Council Member of the Insurance Institute of India (III), explained the various professional qualifications available in the field of insurance and proposed a collaboration with the college to encourage students to register for III courses. Dr. Saravana Selvi C., Faculty of Home Science, delivered the vote of thanks. The seminar concluded at 1:00 PM, with 105 students participating in the programme.
